This collaboration is one that we’re particularly excited about..It was an idea forged on a dock, a passion project, years in the making. When we began this venture as two friends who view the world through a similar lens, we had no idea about the intricacies (batting direction, hand dyed colors, printing seasons, block printing, edging...) related to producing our own Indian printed fabric line. Two years later, with the gentle encouragement from our partner at Tilonia, we were able to bring our vision to light. Stay tuned to see where this takes us…More to come!
More information about our partners at Tilonia/The Barefoot College:
For more than 50 years, The Barefoot College has worked to improve the quality of life of the rural poor by addressing basic needs for water, electricity, housing, health, education and income while enrolling these communities in the processes that govern their lives. The College trains semi-literate, rural men and women to become barefoot solar engineers, water supply engineers, rural architects, teachers, midwives and paramedics to develop their own solutions to meet their community's needs. The College's artisan affiliate helps rural artisans to market their handmade products, branded as Tilonia®, in India and around the world. With new markets for their crafts, their livelihood is improved and the production of the traditional crafts continues.
